Supreme Court Affirms Agri-Cattle Lakeside Estate as the Legal Owner of Lakeside Lands

At Agri-Cattle Lakeside Estate Ltd, we are pleased to announce a landmark ruling by the Supreme Court of Ghana, which has officially confirmed our ownership of 2,911.53 acres of prime real estate at Katamanso, Greater Accra. This decision brings long-awaited clarity and finality to a protracted legal battle over our lands, reinforcing our rightful claim under Land Title Certificate No. TD 0513.

A Victory for Truth and Legal Integrity

The ruling, delivered by a five-member panel led by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, upholds our continuous and lawful land ownership. We legally acquired it in 1974 from Black Watch Cattle Breeding Farms and subsequently secured an extended lease from the Nungua Stool in 1995. Our title was further strengthened by issuing a Land Title Certificate in 1996, a testament to the legitimacy of our claim.

This case originated in 2017, when Tassah Tapha Tassah challenged our ownership, citing a 2004 lease from the Kplen We Family of La. He claimed to have taken possession of portions of the land by putting up temporary structures and cultivating the area. However, the courts have now decisively ruled that his claim was without merit.

Legal Milestones: Justice Prevails

2020 – The High Court dismissed the plaintiff’s claim, recognizing our legitimate ownership.

2023 – The Court of Appeal unexpectedly overturned the High Court’s ruling, creating uncertainty.

2024 – The Supreme Court reversed the Court of Appeal’s decision, restoring our title and confirming that the plaintiff failed to exercise due diligence before acquiring the land.
